"Paul Emery (England)" Some People ask me why I chose the ECC Thailand CELTA course. My initial response is of course – Thailand! Oh…. the food…….the people…….But, then I give a more considered reply.
Firstly, it was because the CELTA is one of the most internationally recognized teaching certificates in the world. I didn’t want to invest in something questionable. I know you get what you pay for!
Secondly, ECC Thailand was the first and most established CELTA course provider in Thailand. They had an enviable reputation for producing well-trained and professional teachers. Also I knew that if I was one of the 96% or so who passed the course, they would immediately offer me a job in one of their branches.
Next I’m always asked, ‘Is it hard work?’ ‘You bet!’ ‘Is it as intensive as they say?’ ‘Oooh yes!’ But ECC make it a lot of fun too, and a great commaradary exists amongst the trainees. The students are patient and supportive too!
Sure, I initially considered a much longer or weekend only non-CELTA course. But I decided I didn’t want to waste my time and money. I wanted to start teaching a.s.a.p, and with a well-known organization.
The ECC Thailand course is great because it is intensive. You are focused on teaching for a whole month. Anything longer would be like reading a novel one page a week. You’d lose the plot!
Then I get back to the topic of Thailand. What other country can you train to be a qualified teacher, a country that offers you great food, people, culture, night-life, weather, affordability, safety. Oh, and did I mention the food.…the people………

"Elke Hess (Germany)" I did the CELTA Course at ECC in Bangkok in May 2002, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone considering getting this teaching certificate. For one thing, I appreciated how helpful and non-bureacratic everyone at the teacher traning centre was even before I was accepted for the course. But most importantly, the course itself was excellent - the tutors were always encouraging, and I still find it hard to believe how much I've learned about teaching in such a short period of time. Be prepared, though, for a hell of a lot of work - they're not joking when they tell you that the course will take over your entire life for a month. It will - but it's certainly worth the stress elkeji@rediffmail.com Elke Hess (Germany)
